Cold and Snowy...

I hate Monday nights. I have class an hour from my house. I leave work as soon as I get off and just get there in time for class to start. Most of the time I don't have time to stop and eat. Class ends at 8:00 and I can sometimes stop and grab something then. It isn't good for my diabetes because I get so hungry and then my blood sugar likes to rise. Not to mention the later I eat, the harder it is for me to control my blood sugar (because I'm asleep when it starts rising!). I know I could pack a dinner, but I always forget...or maybe I'm just too lazy.
But, the good news is, that on the way home it was snowing. :) It probably won't stick, but it's still cold enough to snow. And that means there's always the chance of precipitation. But, hey, a girl can dream, right?
My class I am taking this semester is Sign Language 2. I took Sign 1 last semester. I LOVE it. I find myself signing songs on the radio. This is fine, as long as I'm not driving. :) Does anyone out there in the diabetes blogosphere know any sign language? Just a curious question.

Me! Me! Me! LOL :) I took both ASL Sign classes thru my local college when I was still in high school. I wanted to be a teacher of the hearing impaired... ummm then I found out I was pregnant with my oldest daughter and those plans were put on hold. I still stuck with teaching tho :) I can still sign...but not as fluent as I once was. Its one of those "use it or lose it" kinda things. Funny about signing the songs on the radio ... when I was in class I'd sign everything I said LOL! Our final exam for the class was to sign a song in front of the whole class....great memories! If you put your emotion into the signs it can be a VERY moving experience :) Good luck with it!

BTW...calling for flurries here today :) Its cold enough for it!

Cool! More signers. :P Jill you say you took ASL, and I assume that's what you had Snackrifices. I am learning signed English because that's what they are trying to put into the public school system here to help teach English. Most people so ASL though.
Jill, I have to do 2 songs for my final, plus another project because I am in grad school. The worst part is we have to sign EVERY SINGLE WORD (because it's signed english) and add on endings (ing, s, ed, etc.). So that can be rough at times. But it's sooo much fun.

I sign too :) Badly, though, like a baby (!) I learned for a job about 10 years ago and haven't lost the basics. I used to practice with songs too like Jill...one of my favorites was 'Every Day I Write the Book' (Elvis Costello) and one of the toughest was '867-5309' ;)

Good luck!

Kathy, I am doing a song this semester that I am having to slow down on my computer to keep up with it. I can do it without slowing it down, but my signs are not very "crisp" as my teacher says, so I am slowing it down some.
And just today, I was trying to sign "Joy to the World". :P
